- Nate Berkheimer -

Name: Nate Berkheimer

Age: 24

Sponsors: Diamondback Bikes, Drive, Shimano, Odi, Sun Ringle, AXO Sport, Dragon

Who do you ride with? Gonz, Betcher, McGonigle, G Bum, Desert Breeze locals

What do you say the biggest difference between amateur racing and pro racing: In amateur, kids get really used to being out front. In pro, if they get out front, they’re fine, but put em mid pack, they aren’t moving up, aside from Mikey and Bub.

Favorite track: 2005 Aigle Switzerland UCI track

What does your schedule look like this year? Pretty chill. I’ve got like 10 us weekends left, and 4 international weekends.

What is your opinion on slingshoting? What do you say
to the haters?
If it works for you, do it. If I could get it consistent, I’d be slinging like Dennis the Menace.

Main event time, you draw gate 8. Who are you most
afraid of having on the inside?
Never afraid, but I’d always like to come up on a softy in lane 7. Getting put next to Randy and Christian is work!

Funniest thing that has ever happened on a road trip: Oh man, too much to list. But making people search for their buddies on www.phonetrace.org is always classic.

Who is the hottest girl in BMX? Kris Fox

Describe your gate and first straight: High pedal, strong, pullin

Do you have any groupies? Just the groms, we aren’t motocross.

Who did you look up to growing up? The Wildman, Yoquelette, Brian Foster

Would you consider Pro cruiser for some extra change? You know it.

Name one rider you would like to race 1-on-1: Donny

What was your biggest win or biggest race this far in
your career:
Not too many big wins, but I seem to come through at the UCI races.

The age old question ABA or NBL with a twist: What is
the best about each of the sanctions?
Man it’s a toss up; they both have their ups and downs. ABA is really organized, but the NBL likes to pay more.

What advice would you give to the up and coming riders in the sport? Pedal fast, jump high.
