For those of you who were not at the NBL Grands, you missed a great race. Among the highlights for the race was the best weather in recent history. Not a cloud in the sky for the entire weekend, and temperatures staying a little cooler than usual. The track was also great. The race had some big surprises including defending champion Kyle Bennett being a no show in the Elite Class. Elite men also had some big upsets with Stumpy and DeWilde missing the main event, which left the door open for Mike Day to go on to win the title. Superclass saw Derek Betcher reclaiming the title after a run in Elite last year. Elite Women featured one of the best main events of the weekend wit the top three contenders coming out of the last turn side-by-side. Cools went on to take the title with Hayashi and Geving taking the other podium spots. The amateur classes also saw some great racing. In 18-21x Emiliano Mollea lead all weekend and would not be denied in the main. He went on to take the title. In 17x the big surprise was Jeffrey Upshaw going down in the main, and the super fast MCS ride of Phil Delizia getting bumped out in a super fast semi. Finally in 16x, Kristopher Fox ruled the weekend winning the main and the rights to the title.
Here we have Haro Bicycles' Warwick Stevenson leading the way for the Elite Men's main event. Staats' Mikey Day went on to take the title, followed by Warwick and GT's Randy Stumfhauser.
Here we have one of the most exciting main events of the weekend. Elite Women heading down the third straight with Redline's Kim Hayashi leading the way, followed by MCS' Amanda Geving and Supercross' Samantha Cools. Cools would go on to take the title.
Derek Betcher leading the way with Bizzarro's Nick St. Lawrence, Hyper's Mike Lundy, and Fizz's Kyle Weisenberger using the infield grass during the Superclass main event. Betcher would go on to capture his second Superclass title.
One of my favorite pictures of the weekend. Nick St. Lawrence over the pro set.
Jr. Women getting to it in the first turn. Madison Pitts leading the way here.
Elite Masters class going to it. Dave Bittner won the main and the title for Brew Bicycles.
