U.S. Open Invitational: |
|
The U.S. Open at the Smokey Mountain Expo Center in Morristown, Tennessee was a great race. With almost one hundred motos worth the riders battling it out for one of the coveted U.S. Open champion jackets, the racing action was very exciting. Unfortunately there were a few factors taking away from the pictures for this race. First of all the indoor lighting takes away from the quality of the pictures and secondly I hurt my ankle in practice on Friday which kept me from venturing into the infield for my photos.
Tom Ritz layed down a great track for this race. Every straight had a jump that was little unique. This shot is taken from the end of the first straight, which featured a roller, double, then a roller table combination to send you into the turn. Next, the second straight had a small table, a double, and then a step-up table step-down into the second turn.
Here is a shot of the beginning of the second straight and the end of the third.
The third straight was nice, allowing many different lines by different riders. The straight featured a roller to table followed by three rollers, then a step-down, and another pair of rollers.
Finally, the last straight had a split for the am section and the pro section. There was a very small roller coming out of the last turn then the right side had a step up triple, while the left side was the pro double, each was followed by a roller.
Diego Alejandre, Senor Smoothie killed it all weekend. He had the whole track dialed.
